Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Safety Harbor, Florida

Status: Part-time


POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Volunteer Coordinator at A Door of Hope, you will have the opportunity to build relationships and engage with people at a deeper level of involvement with our organization. This role is crucial in improving our organizational effectiveness, achieving growth goals, and fostering community advocacy. You will assist volunteers in discovering their gifts (if not already known) and connect them to ministry opportunities according to those gifts. Your responsibilities will include initial contact, follow-up, and relationship development with both individual and corporate volunteers. All A Door of Hope activities are to be conducted in a manner that helps improve ministry effectiveness, achieve development goals and objectives, make disciples in our community and bring glory to God.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize year-round volunteer events, collaborating with the Development Department to meet volunteer needs for all fundraising and development activities.

  • Oversee the Volunteer Application Process and Procedures, including screening, processing applications, and ensuring volunteers are properly cleared before activation.

  • Manage and retain community, volunteer, and donor relationships, acting as a liaison between volunteers and staff to ensure effective communication and support.

  • Administer and maintain the communication strategy for volunteer program awareness.

  • Implement strategies for volunteer recruitment and retention, collaborating with other departments to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.

  • Provide comprehensive orientation and training to volunteers, enabling them to efficiently handle activities.

  • Foster positive relationships with existing volunteers, by providing appropriate direction, constructive feedback, and monitoring volunteer satisfaction to address any issues or concerns.

  • Organize volunteer appreciation events and recognition programs to acknowledge their contributions and achievements.

  • Manage the volunteer database, maintaining accurate records of volunteer involvement and status (Active/Inactive).

  • Assess volunteer activities and program outcomes, submit findings, and provide recommendations to improve the volunteer program to the Director of Events and Volunteer Engagement.

  • Assist in all other related duties when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong commitment to the Statement of Faith and philosophy of A Door of Hope.

  • High school diploma with a minimum of two years hospitality management, public relations or event coordinating experience, or a bachelor’s degree.

  • Familiarity with foster care or social services is helpful but not necessary.

  • Experience with small and large scale event production from concept, planning, development, and execution stages is a plus.

  • Excellent organizational and office management skills, ability to function with minimum supervision, able to multi-task while also able to prioritize tasks accordingly to meet deadlines.

  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office 365; as well as Internet usage and ability to learn how to utilize Event Management and Customer Relationship Management Systems.

  • Enthusiastic when working; ability to establish priorities and direct multiple problems or inquiries simultaneously.

  • Demonstrates compassion and empathy, earning the confidence and trust of others while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Outstanding vendor management skills.

  • Ability to balance planning multiple events at once.

  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with reliable transportation.

  • Successfully complete a criminal background screening.

  • Must be able to move 25 lbs.
