Kristen Lassiter

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

For Kristen Lassiter, serving children and families is more than a profession, it is deeply personal. Kristen and her husband, Bob, have been married almost 30 years and have raised seven children together, three of whom joined their family through the child welfare system. In those experiences, she has witnessed both the beauty and the heartbreak that can surround children and families navigating difficult seasons. Those moments have strengthened her conviction that every child deserves someone who helps them feel safe, known, cared for and loved.

Kristen comes from a large Irish family and treasures the gift of family in all its beautiful, messy, and unexpected forms. She loves Jesus, loves her family, and loves to travel. A graduate of Indiana State University, Kristen earned her bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine. While she has always loved sports, her professional journey has given her a lifetime of experience in both the private and non-profit sectors, where she has used her gifts to connect people, build relationships, and create opportunities for meaningful engagement. At the heart of all she does is her desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

At A Door of Hope, Kristen brings those gifts together with her personal passion for child welfare. In her role as Community Engagement Specialist, she works to educate, inspire, and invite individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations to join in the work of loving and supporting vulnerable children and families. Kristen is passionate about helping people move beyond simply knowing that a need exists to discovering how they can personally become part of the solution. Kristen believes that every one of us has something to offer, and her desire is to make a positive impact on as many people as possible- one relationship and one conversation at a time.

A verse that speaks to Kristen’s heart and her calling is Hebrews 10:24 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
